An Illocutionary Acts and Perlocutionary Acts Analysis of Individual’s Dialogue with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) in the Movie “Split” 2016 by Using Searle’s Speech Acts Theory



Let’s begin with the general knowledge about the movie and Kevin. Split is a 2016 American psychological horror thriller film and the second instalment in the Unbreakable trilogy written, directed, and produced by M. Night Shyamalan and starring James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Betty Buckley. The movie is about Kevin who has 23 personalities or let’s say he has DID. Later, his 24th identity emerges which is the beast! One of his identities, Dennis, kidnaps and imprisons three teenage girls in an isolated underground facility believing that they will be the beast's sacred food.
